What To Expect With Birth Doula Care
During Pregnancy
Once you hire me as your birth doula, I am available to you by phone, text, or email 24/7. It’s important to me that you feel fully supported throughout your pregnancy. We will meet in your home twice to prepare for your birth. The first visit will focus on informational and educational support, while the second will emphasize comfort measures, positional work, and techniques to help cope with labor. Together, we will talk about your hopes and expectations for your birth, discuss medical interventions and review evidence-based research, talk through a birth plan, and prepare for the postpartum period.
During Labor
Once your labor has begun and you feel that you are ready for the extra level of support, I will join you either at your home or the hospital/birth center. I will be there to support you throughout the entirety of your labor. Once your baby is born, I am available to assist with skin-to-skin and initial breastfeeding or bottle-feeding support. I am also happy to step back and take some photos of your first moments together. Once you feel ready (usually after an hour or two), I will leave you to enjoy your newly expanded family.
After Birth
I will be readily available in the days following your birth to answer any questions and provide resources to ensure that you have the support you need as you settle in with your new little one. Within the first few weeks, we will schedule our postpartum follow-up visit. I will come to your home to check in, make sure you have everything you need, and provide an opportunity to talk through your birth experience together.

Daytime Postpartum Doula Support

Each postpartum visit is a little different, because your needs will be changing daily. At the start of each visit, we’ll go over your priorities which could include:
Light housekeeping, laundry, dishes
Meal preparations
Running errands
Breastfeeding support
Cesarian recovery support
Newborn assistance/education (bathing, diapering, swaddling, baby wearing)
Sibling care
Daytime hours are typically booked in 4-hour shifts.
Rate: $30/hour*Exact shift times can vary with family need
Overnight Postpartum Doula Support

The goal of overnight support is to provide you with as much uninterrupted sleep as possible so you can wake rested and enjoy your baby during the day. If you are breastfeeding, I will bring baby to you to nurse and then take care of the burping, changing, and settling back down, minimizing your wake-up time and allowing you to get back to sleep more quickly.
Overnight support is provided in 8 hour shifts, beginning between 9pm and 10pm.
Rate: $300/night
Additional hours can be added on at the daytime rate of $30/hour.
